About • The Imaginarium Studio

Welcome to The Imaginarium Studio, where creativity takes flight. We conduct small, unique art classes for adults and children at our Dunedin city studio.

ABOUT US
Following years of successful art classes across New Zealand, the driving force behind The Imaginarium Studio is artist Jo Jago.  Jo moved from Wanaka to Dunedin in 2025 and is dedicated to teaching art to individuals of all ages in a fun and relaxed environment.

Here at The Imaginarium Studio, we believe in fostering creativity and artistic expression through engaging workshops.  Originally established in 2021 in Wanaka by Jo, our mission is to provide a welcoming and stress-free environment where individuals of all skill levels can explore their artistic potential.  From the individual who truly believes, 'I could never ever paint anything' to novices and beyond.  Our workshops are designed to cater to both beginners and experienced artists, allowing participants to create beautiful work while learning essential techniques.

Our commitment to quality and education is reflected in every aspect of our business. We strive to create an inclusive community where individuals can connect, learn, and grow through art.  As we continue to expand our offerings, we remain focused on our core values of creativity, accessibility, and community engagement.  Join us at The Imaginarium Studio, embark on your artistic journey and let your creativity take flight today.

  • Class sizes are kept small to guarantee personal attention for all participants.
  • We provide you with top-quality, artist-grade paint, paper, consumables, supplies and equipment to use during your lessons. You can just turn up and have fun!
  • Our lead artist, Jo Jago, likes to get to know the students in her classes, and focuses on teaching artistic skills in a subtle and fun way, often by doing works of art that specifically embrace the students' interests. You can expect bespoke classes tailormade just for you.
  • We offer weekly after school art classes, weekly evening classes, paint & sip events, school holiday & weekend workshops plus private tuition, private group lessons, private group events & birthday parties for adults & children, and private group paint & sip events for adults, which are ideal for Hens parties, Christmas parties and other functions.  We really do have a great time!
  • Our children's classes are recommended for ages 8 and up, but if you find you have a young Picasso on your hands, get in touch to have a chat to see if we can cater for your under 8-year-old (in some circumstances we can)
  • As with under 8's, we do work with individuals who have special needs, but please chat to us before enrolling.
  • We offer have a limited supply of good quality art supplies to purchase and take home, should you want to, but there is absolutely no obligation to do so. They are just there if you need them.
  • You are welcome to visit The Imaginarium Studio in person - just contact us if you would like to book in for a visit (which is open to visitors by prearranged appointment only)
