Term 4 • 6:30pm Wednesday Beginners & Beyond Watercolour Lessons (Dunedin City)
TERM 4, 2026 • NOW AVAILABLE TO BOOK
Join a relaxed, supportive 10-week evening watercolour course in central Dunedin for beginners and beyond. This is one mixed-level class designed for complete beginners, returning beginners, Beginners Plus and Beyond Beginners. No previous watercolour experience is required.
If you are brand new to watercolour, you will be guided through the foundations clearly and practically. If you already have experience, you can work at a more developed level, strengthen your technique and take each project further with individual guidance.
One class • different experience levels
Everyone works together in the same friendly class, but you do not have to be at the same stage. Demonstrations and projects are designed so they can be approached at different levels.
- Complete beginners can learn essential skills such as brush control, water-to-paint ratios, colour mixing, washes and wet-on-wet techniques.
- Returning and developing painters can consolidate technique, solve problems and build confidence.
- Beyond Beginners can explore more complex colour, composition, layering, edges and creative decision-making while developing a more individual painting style.
You will receive guidance suited to where you are now, so beginners are supported without more experienced painters being held back.

What to expect
Our evening watercolour lessons are relaxed, mindful and practical. Classes are kept small so there is time for individual guidance, questions and feedback. You will paint a variety of projects, learn techniques in context and become more confident making your own creative decisions.
This is also dedicated creative time away from the demands of everyday life: a chance to paint, experiment, learn and enjoy the process with other people who like making art.
Materials are included
We provide artist-grade watercolour paints, paper, consumables, supplies and equipment for you to use during your lessons. You do not need to buy a kit before attending. Just come along ready to paint.
Art supplies are also available to purchase from us if you would like materials to continue painting at home.
Small classes • bookings essential
Bookings are essential because class numbers are limited. Minimum enrolment numbers are required for the course to proceed.
If the course fee is difficult for you to manage, you are welcome to contact us confidentially to ask whether an alternative arrangement may be available.
